This was in response to the new Volt's design cues on Facebook

That's not you. His name is Marcus, not Denny.

We all know you're really Denny. ^_^

I was thinking more Civic + Insight + Paul Wall.

i'd rather die in a Corolla than be a douchbag in a Ferrari. I wish more people preached Drive Free or Die like me. Respecting both eco box drivers and smug bungholes in enthusiasts cars.
*tapes jalop card up only to destroy it again and set in ablaze*

I can see why you're hesitant to admit that it's your real name.
Denny's is such a mediocre restaraunt.

not all Ferrari drivers are douchebags, you know...
![]() 01/05/2015 at 00:48 |

And not all eco box drivers are (insert outdated childish jokes like Ferrari drivers being douches).
Drive Free or Die. End Automotive Hate!

Really? :/

When it's 2 AM and you want pancakes and eggs, where else can you go?

Waffle House

I agree with that. All types of people drive all types of cars, there's always exceptions to the 'rule'.

oh the rule :] So easily countered but an awesome conversation exponent

You mean Norms? My breakfast place closes at 3 PM.

My kitchen.

By the time i get there I think it'd be cold.
![]() 01/05/2015 at 01:52 |

Heh. I thought you meant where could I go. My kitchen may be a fair bit far from you, but it's very close to me. Don't worry, though, it's open 24/7; I'll leave a light on. I'm willing to accept cookies as payment for pancakes. ^_^
![]() 01/05/2015 at 01:58 |

Well, I did actually have some cookies tonight...

I'd rather not die in ANY crash. I like cars, but I sure as hell did not want to die when that F150 t-boned my mom's Integra at 25 mph. I applaud safety because there is nothing more terrifying than battling with inattentive drivers in a car with only two airbags, no side-impact beams, and a crotch-high belt line.

what lol
I just meant the 'rule' as a general reference to any given stereotype (like that all Ferrari owners are douches, etc), not any actual rule lol :P
![]() 01/05/2015 at 09:27 |

people have a strong mindset over things like that to give it enough validity.
![]() 01/05/2015 at 15:37 |

I guess so, but it also depends on exposure.
Back when my dad was more active in the Ferrari Club, I would go along with him and I met a lot of genuinely friendly car guys, none of them struck me as the "I have this car just to show off" type. Admittedly, that was a while ago, and and the worst offenders these days are the ones who DD their new 458s so everyone can see the car, but even then, there's still plenty of friendly ones.

Indeed. When I judged the Ferrari festival recently, I posted about that one fairly new owner in a 328. Coolest dude in the world... as for the other guys... I had to bite my tongue on many occasions. Given the purpose of this post, I am finding it less charming around these parts lately. I am around high end enthusiast type cars everyday. My opinion shouldn't be so diluted to eco cars. Perhaps because I see all cars as bits and pieces, I can't relate to most people here or anywhere. OPPO seemed to good to be true. A community of car people not so easily impressionable with automotive propaganda. Lately, I think that is the case. Cool people, same enthusiast drawbacks.

obviously I have my personal biases like everyone, and I make the occasional "lol BMW asshat driver" joke or whatever, but I still try to avoid "hating" a certain group or type of person based off of their car. For the record, I don't actually agree with the OP (and I'm not sure that the majority of OPPO does) but its just kind of part of the nature of car enthusiasts that there will be a bias of some sort. The severity of that bias varies from person to person, but like you, I think it'd be cool if there was a little more enthusiasm and appreciation for the automobile in general, rather than just the expensive or exciting ones. I've hated on a Lexus before because I didn't like it, (I think you were there for that :P) but I won't deny that it's a great car for the demographic it's targeted for. I also wouldn't ever own a Prius, but it's a great car for people who want something that gets good mileage for their commute to work, and I can at least appreciate that a little bit.

It was more of a metaphor for wanting to drive something that excites me, rather than driving something bland my parents picked out for me. I didnt mean it literally

everything could use a little more Paul Wall
![]() 01/07/2015 at 01:47 |

Yeah, but why couldn't they have just put Paul Wall on the front of the better looking last generation Volt? At least put it on a car that doesn't look like anything else.

" everything could use a little more Paul Wall"

Yautja mouth is a perfectly acceptable substitute to Paul Wall mouth.
